How Sweet is Resurrection Life?

Image
HOWDY and HELLO!      I have been busy with some sermons and helping students fundraise for SICM! I will update on those things in the next month, because I don't want to miss anything that happened in March. God is too good to miss out on any updates. Thank you for your patience! Potluck with our church after Easter Service. So sweet.      Obviously we got to celebrate Easter Sunday around the world together as the body of believers. This year has been a much needed reminder for me. Holidays and festivals are almost always started as an act of remembrance of something significant. I often find around the holidays though, I am so focused on regular day to day life, or if I am in the holiday spirit, it's about the form of the day, rather than the purpose.       This year, I had my good friend Mauricio with me, just excited more and more at the idea of the coming resurrection. I would see him on campus, ask how he is doing, and he would respond "Great! It's almost the r

Arlington Central Church in our new home!    HOWDY AND HELLO!!!      There is a lot to be thankful for this past month: a second sonogram of our baby girl, an influx of new students and visitors to our church, multiple student baptisms at our church, and plenty of  memories being made with my guys I have come to really care for.      Once again, I reminded of the joy of this ministry I get to participate in and want to extend a thank you to all of you on my support team and who read this blog.    Let's jump in to February!!! Sweet girl. I have been told she has my nose.      Our baby is growing healthy and we are getting more and more excited to meet her. She has started moving enough in Emily for her to feel her. I have felt 1 or 2 little kicks and it is so sweet.       One of the elements of having her I am most excited for is all our friends, family, and community getting to meet her and vice versa. It warms my heart to think about her growing up with lots of different faces co

Good News From Retreat

Snapshot from a student named Austin of the snow day at camp HOWDY and HELLO! January has come and gone, and I wanted to spend most of my blog sharing with y'all some powerful stories from our retreat. Every day we got to spend together was a catalyst for fellowship and community. Not everyone in our core could go, but Mauricio, Garrett, Sully, and I were there. It was definitely a great sight to see Sully getting more plugged in, and I have already seen him being more comfortable in core after us sharing this trip together. It was Garrett and Sully's first time at this retreat, so it was their first time getting to see the entire ministry of FOCUS from across DFW get together. I think it put some perspective on what God has been bringing them to and encouraged them to see His hand at a larger scale than UTA. The Core guys on last day at retreat Some of the UTA fellas wanted a snow day pic. Lots of great guys here. Many will be leaders in the coming years. Rhett, Mauricio, an

New Year with New Faces

HOWDY AND HELLO!   The biggest blessing of 2023 is her coming in 2024! I had to start with the big news first! Emily and I are having a sweet baby girl come Summer 2024. We had been praying and trying last year, and God has blessed our earnest prayers. I am only as eager as I am, because all the fears of parenthood and raising a child are contrasted with the overwhelming care God has shown me through my community at FOCUS and Church, as well as through your support of my ministry.  I plan to work with FOCUS for the continuing future, God willing. While it is not the highest paying job, it is certainly one I have felt called to. I am excited for the flexibility of my schedule to be able to take care of my daughter when needed, and meet students when needed. I want my girl to see her parents love and live for others at a young age. Please be praying over the health of our girl and over God's providence for our growing family. Much of my excitement has been getting to see those who ha

Time Flies When You're Making Memories

Core of 87      Thanksgiving has just passed and I find myself once again near the end of the semester just in awe of God and what He does. First off, thank you to all of my ministry partners. I don't get to be here on campus, speaking the Word to young men without your faithfulness and generosity.       When I think about how your investment is affecting the Kingdom, I think about Mauricio who went from on the fence to leading others to Christ this year. I think about Andrew, who was hotheaded and quick tempered, coming to our Bible study more humble each week, ready to learn. I think about Garrett, who previously let his girlfriend do all the talking for him, being one of the most proficient friends I see amongst freshmen. I get to meet with real people, and see real change in their lives, that lead to real change in other's lives. It has nothing to do with me being good. It has everything to do with God being good, me being faithful, and you being faithful . So thank you
