Baptisms, Roadtrips, and Costume Parties

This is going to be one of my favorite photos ever. Love this guy. This is my friend, John. As we were finishing up our 10 week Bible study, FOJ, he decided he wanted to get baptized and commit himself to the Lord. It was with great pleasure and a full heart that I got to welcome my dear friend into a committed life with Christ. John is now figuring out how he might disciple his classmates, coworkers, or really just anyone around him. He is full of life and God's Spirit. I pray that Christ will reach many through my friend, John. Helen and Emily reading some scriptures before Helen getting baptized. As sure as John was, we had two more students get baptized in the same week. When John invited everyone to come to his baptism, two girls, Helen and Sam shared that they had been thinking about this decision as well and were ready to make the commitment. God can be so good like this. Emily got to baptize these sweet girls after John and I went. It is that time of year where we get to ...

When We Doubt, God Reassures

The guys and I from Friday core (L to R: Armaan, Mauricio, Vincent, Josh, Michael, Alan). Love these guys Howdy friends! I have been so busy with ministry, but have been so excited to share about this past month of Good News!! I want to start with some of the heavier things on my heart, and later get to how God is good despite the storm. In this past month, I have had three different guys step away from ministry. Two of them I have spent many hours with discipling and studying the Bible with. One of them called me, and just because of his class schedule keeping him from attending events, plus his church offering a college group, he has decided to step away from FOCUS and be a member there. This one did not sting, and I am happy he has made that decision. The other one told me through text that they saw no fruit coming from our ministry and that I had become overbearing, that I had made him angry.  This is a student I have spent many times praying for and asking for guidance in how ...

Lots of New Folk To Pray For

Hey howdy hey! So much has happened since I last wrote and that is because it is a new school year! So much of our year is wrapped up in these early few weeks of classes. The people we meet this week are more than likely the bulk of students we get to minister to all year. So my schedule has been much more active than pretty much all of summer. We try to spend as much time on campus during Welcome Week so that we can befriend and invite as many students as possible. We want to make ourselves known as a Christian ministry to those who are looking, and show students who would have no interest in a Christian org to begin with, that we really care about them, hopefully breaking down barriers they have set up mentally over years.  Making a tower out of marshmallows and spaghetti with some students Playing Corn Hole with a transfer student named Visvis Our UTA Student Leader team for the year (I was in the restroom like a dummy) First TNF of the year!  The past two weeks, we h...

College Ministry Starts With Teen Ministry/ The Joys of Community College

Howdy and howdy! I am feeling mighty pumped up because we are so close to the beginning of the semester! Not only are we so close, but God has shown me some really encouraging things this past month. Each event just gets me so excited for new students to be met and join in what Christ is already doing on campus. Let me be less general and go into more of the specifics of how I have been encouraged. Group photo from Teen Camp Emily and I got to attend our body of churches teen camp. While Arlington Central Church has no teens because of how young we are, it was really sweet to see a vision of what our church could look like in years to come. These are all the teens from our Garland and Wylie churches.  While this is not FOCUS or even college ministry, this is kingdom work being sown. These are the churches that invest in our students the most, the ones that see the vision for what Christ has been doing on college campus for years and years. Beyond just reinvesting in the body ...
